Based in London and southwest Scotland, Julia Williams is an osteopath and naturopath with a passion for optimising the health potential of the individual

About Osteopathy & Naturopathy

Osteopathy is the modern, scientific development of two of the oldest forms of treatment known to man - massage and manipulation. It is essentially a natural therapy, which seeks to overcome the wide range of diseases, disabilities and pains which result from disturbances of the body's framework and moving parts.

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of healing which seeks to promote health by stimulating and supporting the body's inherent powers to regain harmony and balance.

Naturopathy is not a single therapy.  It is not even a group of therapies.  It is a philosophy of health which is at least as old as the time of Hippocrates and adheres to the principle of 'first do no harm'.  It is used by the naturopathic practitioner to assist in increasing the vitality of the individual and to educate the patient in the long-term attainment and continuance of good health.

Osteopathy complements naturopathy perfectly as the structural and mechanical component of the treatment.

Cranial osteopathy is a particularly gentle, but powerful, form of treatment.  It is particularly suitable for treating babies and children
.   Very specific, skilled, light pressure is applied where necessary to assist the natural ability of the body to release stresses and tensions.

The treatment may be complemented with naturopathic advice or conventional osteopathic manipulation, particularly in older children.

Cranial osteopathy is also very useful in treating adults, often alongside structural methods, particularly in treating neck or jaw dysfunction or when addressing an emotional aspect of pain using somato-emotional release techniques.

I have been lucky enough to form collaborations with a number of excellent therapists including fellow osteopaths, trainers, herbalists, NLP practitioners and psychotherapists.  Together, we run a range of self-development courses, in collaboration with a number of other health professionals, both clinic-based and residential. They include health, nutrition and wellbeing, and posture dynamics.

About Neurological Integration

The Neurological Integration System bases its treatment methods on the neurophysiology principle that the brain governs optimum function of all body systems.  This, in essence, makes the patient’s brain, not the practitioner, the most knowledgeable and qualified to diagnose and correct complaints.

The human body is born with a set of maximum tolerances dictated by our unique DNA.  When all body systems operate within our individual template of parameters, we have our best health.  From time to time, stresses (physical, pathological, chemical or emotional) cause our individual tolerances to be exceeded. This is when the body will start to show symptoms of pain and/or illness.  An exceeded threshold may be thought of as a broken circuit - the brain is no longer in full communication with certain aspects of function.

The Neurological Integration System involves a set of prioritised treatment protocols that evaluate your neurological circuitry to determine and address which aspects of your body function that your brain is not fully controlling. It is non-invasive, stress and pain free and is suitable for the new-born baby through to the very aged (and also for animals).
